6 things to pack for a day trip
Award-winning travel blogger Phoebe Lee, from Little Grey Box, provides her top tips on what to take on your daytrip.
Finding some time to get away and have an adventure doesn’t always mean travelling to far-off locations. The best adventures can happen close to home, and packing up the car for a daytrip is an easy way to escape for a few hours. Best of all, it’s a budget-friendly way to quell your wanderlust. Here are a few things you can take to maintain that budget-friendly approach.
1. Morning tea
Pack a thermos full of tea and a basket of homemade muffins, fresh fruit and yoghurt to make the world your cafe. Find a place with an incredible view, set up your morning tea and enjoy.
2. Fun activities
You’re never too old to rediscover those childhood games, and a daytrip is the perfect time to do it. Pack a footy to kick around on the beach, a frisbee to throw in the park or a cricket set to play on the sand.
3. Walking shoes
Pack your joggers or hiking boots and blaze your own trail in one of Australia’s stunning national parks. It’s a great way to get your heart rate up while exploring somewhere new – for free!
4. Sun-safe gear
It’s really important to be sun smart, so be sure to pack sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. This will save you having to buy anything if you get out on the road and realise you forgot.
5. Water and snacks
Bring bottles of water and snacks for the car ride. You won’t have to stop and buy them at a convenience store, which would be far more expensive than your local supermarket anyway.
6. Fill up before you go
Fill up your car’s fuel tank before getting into rural areas where it could be more expensive.
